200 Projects to Get You Into Fashion

200 Projects To Get You Into Fashion was a book that I read to get started. It is a book full of ideas for you to do if you want to be a fashion designer. I am going to refure to it many times in the future. It really helped me to get an idea of how to start things, and that, I think for most people, is one of the hardest things to do.

The first thing this book says to do is find a sketchbook. Once you have done that you need to decorate it in a way that shows who you are. Maybe you could put pictures of friends and family on it, or maybe you could make it your favorite color. What I did with mine was I decorated it with pictures of fashion that I liked, but you could really do anything just as long as you make it your own. Then after you do that you should start to find things in your room or around the house and start to sketch them. This was my worst fear. I am not the best artist in the whole world. But after only a couple drawings I got the hang of it. When you draw things in your sketchbook, that is another way to make things yours. Nobody has your technique, or your handwriting, or even draws the way that you do. So even if you dont really know it, your sketchbook will not look like anybody elses.

Once you get the hang of sketching things, maybe after you have practiced sketching people, you can start by sketching your friends and what they are wearing. The next step that I have to accomplish, and the next step after you have done this, is to maybe take your camera around with you. Find things that you could take and turn into fashion. Maybe even get a theme going. That is the major part too. Once you can take something simple and turn it into a peice of fashion, you can do anything. After that you decide what fabrics you want to use and you make your outfit. Who knows, maybe you could even be the next biggest fashion designer around.

My Dream

My dream is to start my own fashion buisness. With clothes and thigns from every decade. My favorite look is like the 60's and 70's look. I love the whole flower child vibe. I like earthy shades. I like earthy prints. I suppose I like earthy fashion. So the 60's look is my favorite. I also love to put things about me into my everyday clothes. I suppose everybody does if you think about it. We all wear our favorite color, our favorite brand, our favorite band T-shirts. So I wear a lot of purple, and 99% of my clothes are from forever 21 and I love classic rock so I have a lot of The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, and The Styx kinds of T-shirts. I am currently wearing a purple shirt from Forever 21 that has The Beatles on it. I guess what I am saying is that if I were to have my own store it would be full of 60's clothes. But that's not all. I love anything retro. I love the 50's style too. High waisted pants, lots of dresses with polka dots, high heels, things of those natures. My dream is to start my own business, either online or a store. It would have everything from clothes, to fashion for your home. That would be so perfect for me. I really hope that I am able to do it. I know that it will probably be a lot harder than I think and I may get nowhere with this, but I think I am willing to go nowhere, make little money, and be happy. If it comes down to it I can have a part time job doing something else and I can start a website on my own. But hopefully I can make this happen. That's my dream.

Why I Want A Job In Fashion

My whole life I have been interested in clothes and fashion. Since I was young I have loved everything about fashion. There are many people who don't see the why fashion is so great. I find it captivating. Fashion is one of the biggest ways to express you self and your culture. It makes you who you are. It can make you stand out or blend in. It makes you unique. I think I first realized that I wanted to be in fashion in middle school. There really isn't any huge story behind it or anything. My mom just told me that I should be in fashion and i realized that she was right. I spend about twice as long as most people going through my huge mess of clothing in the morning. I try them on and on until they work just right. I look through magazines and circle things that I like so that I can find something similar with my own things. I look online at different websites and find cute outfits or hair styles. I help my sister find outfits that work out just right. You see, she is definitely fashion deficient. The thing is, she has a ton of cute things, but it's like she wants to make me mad, so she finds the most unpleasant thing that she can find in her room. Although now that she is interested in "cute boys!" she comes to me for fashion advise.
